
PU “One Village One Product+1” (“OVOP+1”) is an organization that provides business and logistics services to “OVOP Association” members*. It was established in 2011, in order to activate local communities of the Issyk-Kul Region. OVOP+1 aims to promote economic activities by introducing the OVOP Movement. The OVOP Movement is a strategic movement designed specifically for regional development and it originates from Oita Prefecture in Japan. It is an integrated community development approach with a vision to increase incomes and wealth for local people of the Issyk-Kul region through new product development (value addition to local resources), quality control of products, marketing of high value-added products and human resource development.
*One Village One Product (OVOP) Association is an organization of local producers. There are 300 groups (more than 2500 people) in the Association and its members specialize in different production spheres such as felt, handicraft, jam, beekeeping, and food processing.
The OVOP products are promoted under the trademark “Issyk-Kul Brand.” This trademark is awarded by Issyk-Kul Brand Committee according to the following criteria: Certified, Made of local and natural resources, Eco-friendly, Unique design.
